L’HAMEAU DE JADIS

L’Hameau de Jadis, which translates from French as “the village of ancient times,” is a place where time stands still—a charming retreat that is both new and steeped in history. This traditional 18th-century farmhouse has been carefully restored and converted into elegant apartments, managed with a personal touch by the same family that has called it home for five generations.

As depicted in the large losa bas-relief on the façade of the Chalet—crafted by a renowned artist with a deep love for these lands—L’Hameau de Jadis takes its name from its rich history, deeply rooted in the region. Once the heart of the surrounding valley, the farmhouse was a hub of agricultural and pastoral life. It housed various activities linked to livestock farming, winemaking, and the production of milk and cheese. From here, shepherds would set off with their herds of cows and oxen, guiding them to the high mountain pastures for the summer grazing season.

Today, the apartments are located within the four adjoining buildings that once housed the barn, granary, manor house, cellar, fontina cheese storage, cow stable, oil mill, and chalet.

These spaces still retain their original names and surround an ancient courtyard with a large garden. Once home to the vegetable patch, the courtyard now features an open-air lounge area with trees and fountains, while the historic oil mill and a distinctive 400-year-old rescard—a treasured family heirloom—continue to stand proudly as reminders of the past.

L’Hameau de Jadis is nestled in the historic heart of the village of Palleusieux, in a privileged location offering breathtaking views of the surrounding valley and an unparalleled panorama of Mont Blanc and the Alpine range. Surrounded by centuries-old trees, fountains, forests, vegetable gardens, orchards, and vast meadows, L’HDJ is the perfect retreat for those seeking tranquility and privacy—an ideal place to relax and immerse themselves in nature and the local traditions.

Palleusieux is a charming mountain village where history and modernity blend harmoniously. It features a still-functioning old bakery, the Chapel of St. Roch, local farms, and a mix of both traditional and contemporary residences. Its serene atmosphere, stunning natural surroundings, and strategic location make it highly sought-after, as it lies at the crossroads of the renowned ski resorts of Courmayeur, La Thuile, and Chamonix, and just a short walk from the historic thermal town of Pré-Saint-Didier. Well-connected by public transport—including buses, shuttles, and taxis—Palleusieux also offers convenient amenities, such as a Grand Hotel, excellent restaurants, a bar, and a shop selling groceries, newspapers, and tobacco, making it ideal for those who prefer to stay close to home.

The apartments vary in architectural style, size, orientation, and furnishings, each with its own unique charm and character. Designed not only to provide maximum comfort in a warm, family-friendly atmosphere but also to meet the expectations of discerning travelers who wish to feel at home while enjoying premium services and modern conveniences.

Over the years, L’Hameau de Jadis has welcomed both Italian and international guests for short and long stays, including families with children, young professionals, entrepreneurs, and, much like in the past, numerous artists and writers drawn to the area’s tranquility and breathtaking beauty.
